We're pleased to present Jira Software 9.4.
Highlights

Jira Software 9.4 is a Long Term Support release

This means we'll provide bug fix releases until Jira 9.4 reaches its end-of-life date (November 15, 2024) to address critical security, stability, data integrity, and performance issues.

Ready to upgrade? Check out the Jira Software 9.4 Long Term Support release change log for a roll-up of changes from Jira 8.13 to Jira 8.20 and from Jira 8.21 to Jira 9.4.

Whether you’re upgrading from Jira 8.x or Jira 9.x, see our Long Term Support release upgrade guide for all the necessary steps.

Upgrading from 8.x to 9.x triggers full Jira reindex that causes some downtime during the process. If you’re on 8.x now, make sure you’ve estimated the downtime and set the best time for the upgrade.

More

Read the upgrade notes for important info about this release and see the full list of issues resolved.

Over the past few months, you've shared a lot of feedback on the changes we made to comment sorting in Jira 9.0. Taking into account this feedback, we’ve improved commenting experience in the latest 9.4.6 release.

We’re bringing back comment sorting behavior from Jira 8.x and introducing a sticky comment footer, which is currently available behind the feature flag.

What's changed since the last LTS release

Jira 9.4 is a Long Term Support (LTS) release. It contains all features introduced since the last LTS version, Jira 8.20, and provides fixes for known issues in this version.

Have a look at our change logs to get a quick roll-up of the most important changes.

Performance reports

With Jira 9.4 LTS release, we have to introduce a performance regression. Our performance check has shown some regression on the Browse Projects page starting from Jira 9.3. Due to this, the Browse Projects action performs around 10% slower, especially at scale on instances with a high number of projects. We’ll fix the regression in Jira bugfix release 9.4.1.
