Data Center performance
On this page:
Looking for tips on how to start monitoring your Data Center instance? Whether you're evaluating Data Center or already up and running, we're here to guide you in monitoring and managing the performance of your instance.
Testing
Testing your application helps determine whether your infrastructure is capable of supporting adequate performance levels under typical loads. You'll need to predict realistic usage patterns and load to conduct useful tests.
We no longer use the Atlassian Performance Testing framework for our own performance tests. You can still use the framework, but we won’t be able to provide support or help you interpret the results.
Jira Data Center performance and scale tests
With every Jira release, we publish a performance and scaling report that compares performance of the current Jira version with the previous one. See Jira performance and scale testing
Monitoring
To keep your instance healthy, you need to monitor it regularly. To do that, you need to know which metrics to track, create alarms for critical thresholds, and make plans for when you hit them. Do it right, and your Data Center application will continue performing at an optimal level.
Every deployment is different, so we've provided you with guidelines for forming a performance monitoring plan to suit your environment.
Sizing
When studying the performance of your instance, it's important to know the size of your data and volume of your usage. To help you out, we came up with reference profiles for each product. These references list what metrics to collect, along with what their values say about your instance's size.
- Jira Data Center size profiles
- Confluence Data Center load profiles
- Bitbucket Data Center load profiles
Infrastructure
If your current or projected data and usage is Large or XLarge profile, it's time to re-evaluate your infrastructure. We tested different configurations on AWS (Amazon Web Services) to see what kind of environment your instance will need. The following pages provide AWS infrastructure recommendations for different Large and XLarge Atlassian Data Center loads (we also explain the methodology and results of the tests those recommendations are based on):
