Unable to Left Click Download an Attachment in Chrome Browser After Upgrade
Symptoms
- Issue occurs after upgrading JIRA
- Only Chrome browser is affected. Internet Explorer and Firefox works just fine.
- Left click to download (or view) attachment will show gibberish writings similar to the following
Diagnosis
In the attachments panel in the JIRA Issue View page, click on the downwards arrow and choose Manage Attachments will show the Mime Type to be application similar as the following
Resolution
Please create an XML backup of JIRA or Database backup of the JIRA database as an act of pre-caution. The following steps will ran direct database updates to one of the JIRA table, if you do not know what you are doing, please contact your Database Administrator for assistance.
Run the following SQL query against JIRA database to verify the issue again. Where you will see the mimetype resulting
applicationinstead of the correct Mime Typeselect id,mimetype,filename from fileattachment where mimetype='application';- After confirming the above, assuming the affected file is a ZIP file type format, ran the following SQL update. Where the ID was obtained from the above.

update fileattachment set mimetype='application/zip' where id=10300;
