Set your status
Let people know you're available to chat, out for coffee, or heads down working on a presentation. Set your status in Hipchat.
You can set your status in the web and desktop apps, but not in the mobile apps.
To set your status, click your profile photo (in the upper right or lower left depending on your app), then select your status. Type a message to share, if you want.

Pro tip: Use slash commands to set your status.
Your teammates see your status next to your name in a room's list of people. ( Click
in the desktop and web apps.) They can also see your status when they start a 1-1 chat with you.
