Symptoms

Upgrade fails due to "java.sql.SQLException: Conversion to String failed" when using Oracle.

The following appears in the atlassian-confluence.log:

ERROR [lifecycle:thread-1] [sal.core.upgrade.PluginUpgrader] doUpgrade Upgrade failed: There was a SQL exception thrown by the Active Objects library:
Database:
	- name:Oracle
	- version:Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.0.0 - Production
	- minor version:1
	- major version:11
Driver:
	- name:Oracle JDBC driver
	- version:10.2.0.3.0
java.sql.SQLException: Conversion to String failed

Cause

The Oracle JDBC Driver used on your instance is not the one supported by Confluence.
