Is OpenJDK supported by Confluence?
Confluence 6.13 and later
Apart from supporting Oracle JDK, since Confluence 6.13 we test and bundle most of our products with HotSpot distribution of AdoptOpenJDK.
It also means that our Support team uses AdoptOpenJDK to replicate issues that a customer using OpenJDK Java has raised.
If a customer uses a different distribution of OpenJDK (e.g. Zulu) we’ll still provide support for our products. However, if the reported bug is caused by a problem in Java distribution we’ll ask you to reach out to the Java distributor for help.
More information about Atlassian products support on OpenJDK and Java 11 can be found in this community post.
See the table below for important JVM related support changes.
JVM Support | Confluence version | Related ticket |
---|---|---|
OpenJDK support | 6.13.0 | |
AdoptOpenJDK | 6.13.2, 6.14.1 | |
Java 11 support Oracle JDK and OpenJDK | 7.0.1 |
Confluence 6.12 and earlier
OpenJDK is not supported in Confluence 6.12 or earlier. A number of problems can occur when using OpenJDK, as Confluence's internal code as well as third party plugins assume you are using a supported JDK.
