Summary

You want to export a page in PDF format, using the landscape orientation.

After changing the PDF stylesheet to override the page orientation to landscape, the PDF is still exported to the default portrait orientation.

Instructions on customizing Exports to PDF: Customize Exports to PDF - Page orientation

Environment

Confluence Server or Data Center (any version).

Diagnosis

  1. After changing the PDF stylesheet to adjust the orientation to landscape, you try to export the page to PDF and it is exported with the portrait orientation.
  2. Check your Confluence plugins, you can see that the Confluence PDF Export plugin and all its modules are enabled.
  3. Go to the page you want to export and click on the top right button (...) to see if the options match Confluence's default operation as the screenshot below:

  4. If it is different and you can find a 3rd party plugin that emulates the PDF export feature, then you are affected by this problem.

Cause

Some 3rd party PDF export plugins overrides any configuration done in the PDF Stylesheet for the PDF export operation.

Solution

  1. Check plugin documentation for available rotation options, you can also contact 3rd party plugin vendor for assistance.
  2. Disable the 3rd party plugin so then Confluence will use its default PDF Export plugin.
    1. Go to  > Add-ons or Manage Apps
    2. Find the 3rd party plugin and click on Disable.
