Symptoms

This was encountered in Confluence 4.2.8. If this happens to a newer version of Confluence, please create a support request in https://support.atlassian.com/customer/home to get assistance.

Upon trying to delete a file nothing happens, or the page refreshes and everything is untouched.

Cause

This is due to non-ASCII characters in the filename, such as 'Ⅲ' or other special characters.
