Problem
Not able to create an XML backup either from:
- Daily XML backup job, or
- Manual XML backup creation from the admin console
The following appears in the atlassian-confluence.log
2015-04-23 10:51:48,232 WARN [scheduler_Worker-10] [confluence.importexport.impl.BackupJob] executeJob No daily backup directory specified to store the backups. Taking no action!
Diagnosis
Diagnostic Steps
- Go to CONFLUENCE_HOME and open confluence.cfg.xml
- Check if the string
"admin.ui.allow.daily.backup.custom.location"
is set to false:
<property name="admin.ui.allow.daily.backup.custom.location">false</property>
If this is the case, proceed to Resolution
Cause
It seems like there was a discrepancies between the home folder and the designated backup folder. Might be caused of a migration/upgrade, the backup folder path might still point to old home folder.
Resolution
Edit your confluence.cfg.xml file, and change the custom location to true:
<property name="admin.ui.allow.daily.backup.custom.location">true</property>
- Restart Confluence
- Go to Confluence Admin >> Backup Administration
- Click the "Edit" button
- Choose the "default"
- Click Submit
Try to create backup with the above settings. Should the above solve the issue, retrace your steps and change the "admin.ui.allow.daily.backup.custom.location" back to false
