How to Alter the Favicon in Bitbucket Datacenter

Purpose
Through the use of the Look and Feel for Bitbucket Data Center plugin you can customize the appearance of the Bitbucket Datacenter, such as altering the color scheme and adding a custom logo. You can also alter the favicon through the use of this plugin - so the default Bitbucket Server logo is changed in the URL bar or on the page tab.
Solution
Now, if you want to do this manually you can alter the favicon for Bitbucket Server by swapping out the favicon.ico file with your own file.
Steps
- Shutdown Bitbucket Server
- Locate the default file under "
<bitbucket_installation_directory>/app/static/bitbucket/internal/images" folder. - Remove/rename the default favicon file
- Add in your own
favicon.icofile - ensuring it has the name favicon.ico - Restart Bitbucket Server
If the favicon hasn't changed then clear the browser's cache or restart the browser for the change to take effect.
