Checkout Task fails with "svn: E200030: BUSY" message

Problem

Source Code Checkout fails to checkout a Subversion repository and the following message gets written in the atlassian-bamboo.log file:

Cause

This problem usually happens when there is a process locking the .svn/wc.db file in the working directory, and the root cause is likely not having available disk space, which in its turn does not allow the previous checkout attempt to finish.

Resolution

  1. Free up disk space. This can be done by:
    • Manually by deleting / uninstalling files and programs that are not pertinent to Bamboo from the server
    • Ensuring that build results expiry and / or global expiry rules are defined correctly and running frequently.
  2. Move the directory being used as BAMBOO_HOME to a disk with more space available and update bamboo.home accordingly at atlassian-bamboo/WEB-INF/classes/bamboo-init.properties.
