Summary

Shutting down Jira or experiencing an outage while in the process of deleting projects can make it so that these projects can no longer be deleted due to errors.

The projects might be missing metadata such as:

  • Permission Scheme.
  • Notification Scheme.
  • Project Type showing as unknown.

Environment

Jira Server and Data Center

Cause

As Jira was shut down while projects were being deleted the meta-data has been removed and the project data is corrupted.

Solution

Change the project type to another project type(Software to Business)will restore this missing metadata and allow the projects to be successfully deleted.

  1. Go to your project's settings.
  2. Select Details.
  3. In the Project type field, select the type of project you want to change to.
  4. Select Save details.
