Solution

Steps to Enable the "upload app" option:

• Navigate to the Manage apps page within your Jira instance.

• Check if the option Upload app is available:

• If it is not available, you will need to enable development mode:

  • Click on Settings.

  • 
• Select the option Enable development mode.
  • 
• Enabling development mode allows you to upload apps manually, which is crucial for using the descriptor method.

Obtain the Descriptor Link

• Visit the Atlassian Marketplace and search for the add-on you wish to install.

• Navigate to the add-on’s page, and locate the Resources section.

• Find the Descriptor link:

  • Right-click on Get the descriptor file and select Copy link address. This action copies the URL of the descriptor file.

Upload the Descriptor

• Return to the Manage apps page.

• With development mode enabled, click on Upload app.

• In the dialog that appears, paste the descriptor URL you copied earlier.

• Click Upload.

  The system will process the descriptor link, and after a short while, the add-on will be installed.

To successfully install a Marketplace add-on using its descriptor, follow these steps. This approach is especially useful if you encounter issues with direct installation, such as those caused by active license restrictions.
